Subject

Starting off with Nian, a.k.a. Mr. Year Beast who lives under the sea or in the mountains.
The character Nian more usually means "year" or "new year”.

Motives

Using the dots motive in batik,
we adorn our beast with it together with the tree of life symbol in indigenous culture.

Peonies for good luck and coins at the bottom for more money.

Colours

Besides the illustrated Chinese characters 岁稔丰年,
we’ve also included jawi and Indian versions of Happy Lunar New Year,
representing the togetherness in Malaysia despite certain acts by people with ill intent.

We do have a lot in common.
The same air, the same Earth, the same sky.
Maybe if we started looking at what's the same
instead of always looking at what's different,
...well, who knows?
